Profs. Feng Guo and Patrick Harran awarded multi-year R01 grant from NCI (National Cancer Institute)

Profs. Feng Guo and Patrick Harran were awarded a multi-year R01 grant for a collaborative project to study small molecules that bind to and perturb the function of regulatory micro RNAs - and it all started with a CBI trainee.

The project traces back to Evan Hurlow, a former CBI student who worked with Patrick as his mentor and Feng as his co-mentor. Their collaboration sparked an idea that's now turned into a fully funded research program.

This is exactly why CBI exists to pair trainees with mentors across the chemistry-biology divide to spark new science. Congrats to Profs. Feng and Harran, and a big thank you to Evan for initiating the project!"
